A kayaker based in Namibia captured his encounters with numerous baby seals trapped in netting and how he cut them free with a line cutter on May 11. Schalk Louw, who filmed these rescues, caught the seal pups in a specially designed blue net after the mammals had become entangled. "We got a net from a good friend in California to help aid us in our rescues. We’re testing it out and it works well with the small pups. In the video, Naude is using the net to catch a pup caught in fishing line and I used my line cutter to assist him and to cut the pup free," said Louw. In another rescue, the kayaker manages to catch a seal by its tail that had fishing lines around its neck. Louw told Newsflare: "My line cutter could not cut through the line without having to use excessive force. Thankfully Francois was there with his Leatherman so he cut the lines off and the pup was free to play again." Footage shows a herd of seals on a beach in Namibia running towards the sea while the filmers chase them with a blue net. The bag is then placed in front of a baby seal who runs directly inside. A specially placed zip on the bag is opened where the head of the seal is and the rescuers then use their cutters to remove the netting. The filmers show how they hold the puppy's head down with some force because of the strength evident in the sea mammal. Captured in on the edge of the Jökulsárlón lagoon, part of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier can be seen falling into the water creating a series of waves that come towards tourists on the shore. As the visitors flee in shock the lagoon is subsequently riddled with huge, rolling waves that approach the rocks on the shore which sent watching tourists scurrying away from the incoming water. New South Wales-based teacher Jacob Strickling showed that 50 grams of sugar are in the 600ml Creaming Soda drink, which was measured by weighing sugar left behind after evaporating water. The liquid from the red fizzy drink takes two hours to evaporate after being placed on the Bunsen burner, which leaves black, carbonized sugar. Explains Strickling: "After about two hours and once all the water had evaporated, the sugar caramelised into toffee. With further heating, the sugar carbonised, turning black and puffing like a dragon. "By using the before and after weights, [I] was able to determine that there was at least 50 grams of sugar in the 600 ml drink. The nine brides and nine grooms dived 26 feet under the sea to attend a famous underwater wedding ceremony in Trang, southern Thailand today (February 13). Khemjira Klongsanun, 43, noticed the other athletes dodging the bedraggled pooch seven miles into the marathon in Ratchaburi, western Thailand, last Sunday (January 20). But the fitness fanatic slowed down her own progress to kneel by the roadside and gently coax the trembling little bangkaew, or Thai wolf dog, over to her. With no houses or crowds nearby, she realized that the puppy was lost or had been abandoned and feared he would struggle to survive in the wilderness. Khemjira, in a show of compassion, then picked up and cradled the dog, using her own towel to shield it from the blistering sun, before continuing the race. The shop owner has now adopted the puppy, believe to be just a couple of months old, and named him ''Chombueng'' after the name of the marathon. Divers near Oahu were monitoring tiger sharks feeding off a decomposed sperm whale when they encountered what some would regard as their greatest fear, but for them, an incredible discovery – a great white shark. The 20-foot-long creature is believed to be one of the largest on record and has created such a name for itself in the world of marine biology that it even has its own Twitter account. "When we first got there there were a bunch of tiger sharks feasting on the carcass and then suddenly they all swam away, probably sensing what was approaching," the filmer said. "She then made her way out to the surrounding boats to check them out as well. After that she slowly descended and swam off," the filmer said.
