This clip, which was filmed today (April 15), shows South Koreans shopping and strolling around the cities. They wear masks both in outdoor public spaces and in indoor environments.
Today the country has announced that most social distancing measures will be dropped from Monday (April 18), but mask mandates will remain in place.
Among the restrictions to be lifted are the 10-person limit on private social gatherings and a midnight curfew for the hospitality industry.
In an update on COVID-19 in South Korea, Prime minister Kim Boo-kyum said that it is "inevitable" to keep wearing masks indoors for "for a considerable period of time." The Government will review the mandate to wear masks outdoor in two weeks.
According to Prime minister Kim Boo-kyum "the virus situation is stabilised and capabilities of our medical system are confirmed".
South Korea began witnessing a rapid increase in COVID-19 infections in February due to the spread of the Omicron variant, some of the highest daily averages in the world. The peak was recorded in the third week of March, and the country has seen a high spike in deaths.
