A highly automatic COVID-19 sampling machine has been unveiled in Shanghai.
The "Qinggeng No. 1" was developed by a biotech company in Shanghai after two years of research.
The product, covering only 2.7 square meters, is like a mini-lab "pavilion."
An estimated 90,000 samples can be tested within a day.
Biological waste is handled without human intervention.
SOUNDBITE (Chinese): LI QIANG, Market manager of Shanghai ZJ Bio-Tech Co., Ltd.
"It can test 4,500 samples each day. That's similar to the workload of 18 to 24 staff members working in three shifts. If pool sampling is taken into account, if up to 20 samples are mixed together for more rapid processing, then 90,000 samples could be tested within a day."
