China's Shanghai has imposed closed-off management after a resurgence of COVID-19.
As students were admitted into makeshift hospitals, special venues have been arranged for them to take online classes.
In Xuhui District, this hospital offers around 1,500 beds for COVID-19 patients.
More than 30 students have been quarantined here since the hospital was put into operation last weekend.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): Shanghai resident
"I have a child who's in junior high school. I was very worried about the child's studies when we got to the makeshift hospital here. So I resorted to the medical workers here, and they were very kind. They asked me to seek opinions of other children at the hospital, which made me feel hopeful."
Only after one day's preparation, two makeshift classrooms were put into use here.

"I'm also a teacher. I went to have a look there. Students could learn very efficiently in these classrooms."
SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): WANG XIAOJUN, Director of the Nursing Department of Shandong Medical Team
"We chose two bright and quiet rooms. One for children from grade one to five. The other is for senior students. With volunteers joining in, the classes will become more diversified."
