ストーリー

As medical workers are fighting against novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) in frontline, workers are racing against time to build field hospitals providing more beds for infected patients at another "battlefield" -- the construction site.

Leishenshan Hospital, one of the two field hospitals built for treating confirmed patients, started to admit patients on Saturday.

The construction of Leishenshan Hospital started on Jan. 25. Among its builders, there are two local voluntary workers -- Wei Feng and his younger brother Wei Chao.

"My younger brother works at day. I work overnight. When I feel tired I'll just take a nap for two or three hours in excavator. My younger brother will take over my shift before I wake up," said Wei Feng.

That's why Wei's brothers are called "excavator brothers."

Wei Feng was not an employee of the First Construction Engineering Limited Company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, contractor of Leishenshan Hospital, but he asked around how to join in the construction upon hearing the commencement notice.

Moreover, the brothers brought all needed equipments to construction site.

"I contacted labor manager of the First Construction Engineering Limited Company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau. My brother and I, as locals, know how to operate excavators and we have the necessary equipments -- excavators, trailers and slag cars. So we come here and work directly," said Wei Feng.

Many locals offered to help after they knew about the project. Out of concern for their safety, the contractor only chose skilled professionals.

"They said 'I just want to give a helping hand and don't want payment,' or 'I want to work voluntarily,' but for those who are not familiar with the environment and working process here, the condition could pose very big risk to personal safety," said Yang Yu, a staff member with Leishenshan Hospital Project.

The excavator of the Wei's brothers is called as "little blue" by netizens who watched the building of Leishenshan Hospital construction livestreamed through Yangshipin, China Media Group's social media video platform.

Wei said the precious experience will become the pride of his life.

"I'm certainly very proud. When my kids grow up, and when I become grandfather one day, I can tell my story to my grandson that I've made contribution for Wuhan, for our country," said Wei.
