タイトル：Lunar surface and Apollo 17 landing site, LRO view
Lunar surface. Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) view of the Aristarchus Plateau, moving across the lunar surface and ending at the Taurus-Littrow valley, the landing site of the Apollo 17 lunar lander. The Aristarchus Plateau is a bright feature on the northwest part of the Moon's near side. Zooming out and across the lunar surface, the Apollo 17 landing site is shown. Apollo 17 was the last mission to land on the Moon, and touched down in the Taurus-Littrow valley on 11th December, 1972. Astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt spent a total of 22 hours on the lunar surface, and the routes of their excursions in the lunar rover are shown. The bottom part of the lunar lander, the lunar rover and its tracks are visible in the final frames. The LRO, which orbits the Moon, was launched on 18th June 2009.
