ストーリー

A total of 105 million Chinese tourists traveled around the country during this year's three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday which started Friday, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said Sunday.

The figure represents a 7.6-percent increase compared with the holiday last year, the ministry said.

Domestic tourism revenue generated during the period totaled 47.28 billion yuan (around 6.7 billion U.S. dollars), up 8.7 percent year on year, according to ministry figures.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, China saw a smooth and orderly flow of traffic during the three-day holiday despite millions of people taking trips for family reunions or sightseeing.

A total of 48.01 million passengers traveled by rail, 5.61 million more compared with the same period last year, or an increase of 13.2 percent.

Most people also chose short- and medium-haul road trips. In Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and other major cities, some sections of the expressways experienced traffic congestion.

The number of people who traveled by air was 4.74 million, up 8.6 percent year on year.

According to the data released by the Ministry of Transport, a total of 650,000 buses and tour coaches were put into operation for an estimated 149 million road passenger trips.

Around 180,000 police officers were deployed and some 50,000 police vehicles were dispatched each day to maintain traffic order nationwide during the holiday, according to the traffic management bureau under the Ministry of Public Security.

The Ministry of Transport also released the 2019 National Day holiday Travel Forecast Report on Monday.

During the week-long holiday which starts on Oct 1, motorists can drive on expressways for free. According to the report, heavy traffic is expected during the day, starting at 10:00 every day, from Oct 1 to 4.

As of Oct 5, traffic volume across the country is expected to gradually drop before peaking again on Oct 7.

All of the nation's passenger transport hubs is expected to experience travel peak and traffic congestion. The Kunming Railway Station, Shijiazhuang North Railway Station and Harbin West Railway Station are the top three stations that will be challenged by the heavy passenger flow the most. And central China's Zhengzhou City and southwest China's Chongqing Municipality are the two cities that will most likely see traffic congestions.
